Melissa Heinlein serves as the President of the Lake Nokomis Community School Parent Teacher Association in Minneapolis, ensuring that students and teachers have access to classroom supplies, enrichment opportunities, community building events, and more. Melissa is dedicated to creating and maintaining strong localized public-school communities to ensure that all children have equal access to a quality education.

Following the loss of her son Wayne (Way) Faris, Jr. to a drunk driver in 1989, Priscilla Lord volunteered with MADD® (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) and served as a speaker about the impact of drunk driving accidents. She also played a key role in the development of social host and dramshop legislation aimed at deterring drunk driving and preventing similar accidents and loss of life. As a member of Minnesota Join Together, a project funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Priscilla led the committee that drafted legislation that allows for civil liability against adults who serve alcohol to minors. The bill passed both the Minnesota House and Senate and was signed into law in May 2000.

On an annual basis, Heinlein Law provides 50 hours or more of pro bono legal services to help resolve legal issues faced by low-income residents of Minnesota. The Minnesota State Bar Association recognizes our efforts with the designation of North Star Lawyers.
